Mary Fisher

Mary Fisher had many friends. Her best friend was her younger sister. Her sister's name was Helen. She was 7. Mary was 10. Mary liked to play with Helen very much. Mary and Helen didn't have any brothers. But they had friends, Jim and George.

Mary lived in the country. Her family had a farm. There was a river near the farm. Mary liked to go to the river in the afternoon after school when the weather was nice. She walked along the river. Some boys fished there. Some girls read books near the river.

When it rained, her mum took both sisters to the library where they borrowed books. Mary liked reading very much. She enjoyed books about princesses but she did not like books about robots. Helen didn't like to read very much. Sometimes, Mary read fairy tales about animals which could talk.

When Mary was eleven years old, her father said that he wanted to sell the farm. Mary's parents decided to move to a big city. Mary and Helen were both happy and sad. They were sad because they liked the farm and the village library. But they were happy because they hoped to have a lot of adventures in a big city.
