The History of The Internet

In the world before the Internet, people communicated through letters, landline telephones and face-to-face conversations. It all changed when brilliant minds began to dream about a way to share information instantly, no matter the distance. In the 1960s researchers started experimenting with something called ARPANET, which was the first step to creating the Internet we know today. They connected computers using telephone lines, and instead of waiting forever for a reply, users could send messages almost immediately, making communication feel like magic!

As the years passed, many inventors and computer scientists came together to improve this original idea. They realized that by breaking information into tiny pieces and sending it through a network of computers, they could share data faster than before. Soon they developed protocols, which allowed different types of computers to communicate with one another. By the 1980s, the Internet had become a reality, as more and more research and academic organizations connected their computers.

By the 1990s the World Wide Web was introduced, making it easy for everyone to create their own online spaces filled with pictures, stories and games. Suddenly, the Internet was no longer just for researchers and scientists; it was a place for everyone.
